Well, after following Slimming World since the beginning of this adventure I have just done my first week on the Weight Watchers points system for quite a while. I have done weight watchers before when Jayne and I were slimming for her wedding back in 2003. It worked wonders for us both then and I'm hoping it will give me a bit of a boost for weigh in this week.
I have got on quite well with it actually. It's made me think about my portion sizes, which I think were getting slightly out of control on slimming world ... as much pasta as you can eat is like heaven to me! I can eat A LOT of pasta. Ditto for potato so on green days I have a feeling I may have been over consuming. I have really missed free fruit though. On slimming world all your fruit and veg are free whereas with weight watchers your veg is free but your fruit needs to be counted in with your daily points. I have found myself reaching for a bag of Asda Cheese and Onion baked hoops (1/2 pt) or Weight Watchers Cookies (1 and 1/2 pts) instead of an apple (1/2 pt) or banana (1 and 1/2 to 2 pts depending on size). These are not exactly healthy choices are they? Low in calories but also low in anything nutritious. Although the cookies are white chocolate and raspberry so perhaps they do count towards my five a day ;)
My weekend was quite a usual one with alcohol and takeaway foods but I aaaaaaaaalmost managed to stay within my points. I had a couple extra on Friday, had exactly the right amount on Saturday and slipped a little on Sunday. I ate far too much meat at a BBQ on Sunday evening without looking at the points values first but assuming it was OK because it was lean meat and would have been saintly on a Slimming World red day! That was a bit of a slip up but I'm hoping to have lost at least a little something at tonight's weigh in. All we be revealed in a few hours time!
Gem x
PS. Dreadful news ... there are no spaces left for hulagise OR rebounding this week. Whatever shall we do?! Booooo and ruddy hissss!
