Friday Focus

I feel a blog is necessary to keep me focused today. The weekend is fast approaching ... and not a moment too soon in my opinion! I've had a busy week and if I'm not careful that could turn into lazy weekend eating.

This week has been up and down, frankly. I have managed to get to aerobics twice and went to my yoga class last night too so in terms of exercise it has been a good few days. In terms of food, it could have been better. On Tuesday I worked an excruciatingly long day and got home at 9pm with no intention of cooking. Hubby, who had only got home about ten minutes before I did was in no fit state to cook either after driving home from a day working in London so we ordered a Chinese takeaway. It's the first one we've had in quite a while and I made a good choice by eating a pork chow mien (which I guesstimated to be around the same as chicken although on weight watchers it was less) at 7 syns. I stayed well within my syns for the day but still feel naughty for having it. Wednesday was a green day ... I ate according to the rules but seemed to eat a lot. Jacket potato with coleslaw for lunch and Spaghetti with a HE (plus 5 syns) of bolognaise for tea. Yesterday, despite eating mainly weetabix and fruit all day I returned home to find a stuffed crust pizza cooking away in the oven. I defy anyone (apart from Saint Jayne) not to eat pizza once they have smelled it. I also had half a pint of Black Sheep. (It's good beer from the lake district area of the UK, well recommended.) I wonder whether my otherwise good behaviour and extra exercise will counteract the pizza and beer incident? Possibly not.

What I need to do is to get straight back on track and not have another bad day today, because Saturday night is a little works gathering and alcohol will play a part there. I have decided to take pimms (3 syns per 25ml) with me and drink it in really long glasses with lots of diet lemonade and fruit so I should get away with that. A tasty alcoholic summer drink AND a good chance of getting in at least one of my five a day. A perfect idea methinks.

So, tonight I need to make sure that I avoid eating out at all costs and take it very easy on the booze. I can see myself falling asleep in front of the sofa about ten seconds after I get through the door anyway so if I'm unconscious I have a good chance of getting through the night relatively syn free!

Gem x
