Stayed the same

I wasn't looking forward to the weigh in...(I said this last week lol) But I was really worried that I had put back on what I had lost.

However I am pleased to say that I stayed the same. Phew.

I was only naughty for one day..and it was my cousins hen night after all, so I reckon I was allowed :)

I am having another green day today :
Breakfast: Banana and a cereal bar (HEb)
Lunch: Salad with cheese triangles (HEa) and a strawberry yogurt
Tea: Quorn mince spag bol
Snacks: Fruit
Syns: Not sure as yet

I am now back on track and looking forward to shedding a few lbs by next monday. I started my gym programme last week. It went pretty well. I will be going to the gym every wednesday and friday. Can't get away with it as the personal trainer keeps me on track.

Oooops!

It was weigh in day yesterday ...

It wasn't great ...

This week I have gained a lb. Not a disaster, not even a surprise, but still quite a dissapointment. However, I was prepared for this and am going to come back with avengance this week. Starting right now with a red day :)

Breakfast : 2 Weetabix (HEb) with semi-skimmed milk (HEa)
Lunch : Ham Salad with Olives (1syn) and Cheese Triangles (HEa), toffee flavour Mullerlight, 2 plums
Dinner : Lean rump steak with chargrilled peppers and onions and perhaps a small jacket spud (HEb)
Snacks and Syns : Not sure yet so will see how the day progresses. I may make a slimming world recipie carrot cake tonight depending on how the day pans out and I usually have a couple of extra strong mints during the day at 0.5 syns each

I am going to limit my syns during the week so that I can be a bit more flexible at the weekends as they are my downfall ... and I don't want my diet to turn me into an unsociable party pooper. So maximum of 8 syns per day between now and friday. I am also going to blog EVERY DAY to keep focus.

It all went wrong

I was on a hen night saturday evening. I ate more than planned and drank more than planned. Really not holding out for ANY weight loss today. Also it's errrr... the time of the month and I always weight a lb or 2 more so i am not looking forward to getting on the scales at all.

I was really good last week and was even good yesterday, but I think saturday will have taken me over the edge hehe.

How many syns is a sambuca shot? lol

Oh well. Am back on the dieting track. It was only one night after all, so If I have stayed the same or put any on I will just take it in my stride and get on with it and look forward to the weight loss when i get on the scales next monday :)

Rrrrrubbish Diet Weekend

It's early sunday evening and I have had the WORST weekend, with regard to the whole slimming world thing, possible. ALL of my good intentions have been foiled. It went something like this :

Friday : Come home from work, marinated some chicken in fat free yogurt and spices with a view to making syn free curry, go to the doc's for a check up, go and get my hair cut, come home to find myslef invited out for tea with friends and end up eating quite a fair amount, including pudding. (Peanut butter chocolate fudge cake is THE most delicious thing I have ever eaten. Fact.) On the plus side, I was very well behaved drink wise and had only two glasses of wine, when usually i would have had a couple more.

Saturday : Wake up and have boiled egg with soldiers ... no syns there. Meet up with old uni friends who, when i arrive, have already bought me a beer. I drank it. It was nice. Luckily I was driving so didn't have any more and went on to the diet coke (i think, never trust a barmaid!) and I even was full of restraint on the cheesy chip front, nicking one of Su's but not ordering any myself. Then I return home to find myself invited to a BBQ. I drive, stay on the Sprite Zero all night and decide that a red day is probably best. Because of the beer I probably had too many syns on saturday too.

Sunday : Today I have opted for a red day again. Hubby went out for breakfast supplies and we had a grilled full english, where the only syns I had were a sausage. Not bad. Then the ice cream man came round (ooops). I have mowed the lawn, hoovered the house, mopped the floor, done more laundry than I thought existed and got scratched by the cat. All I can think about now is pizza.

If I lose anything this week it will be A MIRACLE. I have been pretty active so I hope not to have gained but I won't be surprised if I have. Boo and Hiss. Feeling rather fed up quite frankly. At least tomorrow is another day. I can get back in control of my diet and hopefully avoid too much socialising over the bank holiday next weekend.

PS. Yogurt chicken mixture still marinating in fridge. I'm going to have to throw that out now. Arse.

Have You Seen the Muffin Man?

Heeheehee ... I made Slimming World recipie "Blueberry Muffins" last night. They have All Bran in them. I know, thats just wierd! Actually, the All Bran wasn't the wierdest thing about them. In fact, you wouldn't even know it was there if I hadn't told you. I think it was the blueberries that made them wierd. They were too juicy, perhaps I should squash them next time .. would that work? And I think I should have added more sweetener. And less cinnamon. I don't even like cinnamon.

...

Chocolate chunks would have helped.

...

And icing.
LOL!

STOP - Scales time!!!

Getting on the scales is always a scary moment. One I never look forward to. However. Looking down I find that I am now 11st 9 1/4 lbs.

That is a weight loss of 3 and 3/4lbs. So very pleased with that. I have got to admit that on friday of last week I did loose a bit of faith about this diet, but with some wise words from Gemma I kept going...AND IT WORKS wooohoooo.

Weigh-Hey!

Well, week one of Slimming World is officially over and the weigh in took place last night. It was a tense occaision. You could feel the tension in the air. You could cut it with a knife. We were scared!

However ... success!!! I think we were both pleased with the results, and here is mine :

Week 1 Weight Loss : 2 and 3/4 lbs

Excellent. Perhaps now I can begin to trust that this Slimming World malarky actually works?!

A good weekend i'd say

Well. At first I thought the weekends on the diet would be really tough as there are still biscuits in the cupboard. However I have really surprised myself and been VERY good indeed.

Saturday I was on another green day as they are my fave. I even took my own tea to a house party on Saturday as they were having a buffet which consisted of chips, pizza and scampi. I cooked the spinach and potato curry from the slimming world cook book and had that with rice - all free on a green day. It was very tasty indeed and didn't even steal a chip or a slice of pizza. Not even tempted which was a shock. Kept to all of my free foods and stayed well within my syns.

Sunday I was on a red day and made the bacon, burger and tomato relish recipe from the book. Also very tasty. I had this on a crusty cob (6 syns)

Today I have had fruit for breakfast and I have got a salad for lunch with cheese triangles and a yogurt. I forgot to bring my ryvitas...Oh well. I then have an apple for if i get peckish before tea.

We are going to weigh ourselves tonight so will blog my new weight later on.

Keep your fingers crossed

Gin is not my friend.

Well, looks like I have fallen at the first hurdle. Five days into the diet and I have possibly blown any chance of a weightloss for this week. I was quite impressed yesterday ... on Slimming World you can eat just LOADS of food so I wasn't really sure if there was any chance of losing any weight at all. However, the bathroom scales told a different story and I might actually have lost a lb or two.

Went out to a friends house last night for dinner and was a little worried about what we wold be cooked. Turns out it was a lovely, really quite healthy stir fried pork and rice dish from Mongolia called Chow Fan. Yummy ... good for a green day and although there was probably a couple of sins in it there weren't many. So instead of having the two double G&Ts I had three. Unfortunately three was what tipped me over the edge into the fourth, fifth, possibly several more. In fairness I was horribly sick so perhaps the syns won't have left too much of a dent. Don't think I need to worry about saving syns for alcohol this week. Today it feels very unlikely that I will ever drink again!

Gin is not my friend.

Liking the Green Days

Think I can get the hang of this Slimming World malarky. I had my first green day yesterday ... I think I'm going to like green days. I was absolutely stuffed.
  • Breakfast : Tomatoes on Toast(HEb) - a trusty favourite of mine
  • Lunch : HUGE jacket potato with baked beans, salad and two laughing cow lights(HEa) and a Muller Light yoghurt
  • Dinner : Spaghetti Bolognaise(HEb) with a bit of grated cheese (HEa)
  • Syns : I had extra beef bolognaise sauce (5) and because Tessa told us to make sure we ate all our syns I had two Oreo biscuits (7) with a cup of tea before bed. Total syns - 12

I like green days. I think I might do a lot of those. I wasn't in the slightest bit hungry all day ... although I was ravenous when I got back from aerobics but that was OK cus I was able to eat a huuuuge bowl of pasta. 70g of cooked minced beef isn't really enough for spag bol but I was able to use some syns for some extra sauce.

As promised Tessa called up last night ... I was at aerobics and Dave thought she was a telesales person so I don't think he used his best telephone manner but she wasn't deterred. She sent me a nice text instead and I was able to text her back and say everything was going ok.

Think I might go with another green one today. Gotta love your carbohydrates.

Today I Have Mostly Been Eating Green Foods

Today I am having a 'Green Day'. That means that I can eat as much as I like from the list of super free foods (fruit, veg, salad etc) and as much as I like from the free green foods (pasta, rice, potatoes) I am also supposed to eat one or two Healthy Extra (HE) portions of calcium and 15 syns

Breakfast : Grapes and strawberrys, topped with a lowfat strawberry layered muller yogurt (0.5 syns)
Lunch : Pasta, chopped tomatos, pepper, sweetcorn and a slice of ham
Snack: Banana
Dinner : Jacket Spud, cheese triangle (HE"a"), chicken breast (HE"b") and savory rice (1.3 syns)

OK, so I know it's only been a day, but things are going well. I have not felt hungry all day. Infact, my pasta lunch really filled me up. I now need to decide how to use up my syns.

Jayne x

Today I Have Mostly Been Eating Red Foods

Today I am having a 'Red Day'. That means that I can eat as much as I like from the list of super free foods (fruit, veg, salad etc) and as much as I like from the free red foods (lean meat, fish, seafood) but limit my carbohydrate intake (only two measured portions or bread, pasta, rice) I'm also supposed to eat one or two Healthy Extra (HE) portions of calcium and 15 syns (thats the good stuff).
  • Breakfast : Two slices of wholemeal toast (HE) with tinned tomatoes on.
  • Lunch : Big Salad with Tuna and Cheese Triangles (HE) and a Muller Layered Yoghurt (1.5 Syns)
  • Dinner : Steak with Jacket Potato (HE) and Salad

I need to eat quite a few more syns today but as I'm eating out for dinner i better save them for the way they cook things in a pub ... plus I may have a red wine (5 syns)

Not hungry so far ...

Getting on the scales

As Gemma has already said...There are lot's of nice people at Slimming World. Tessa said since October the group have lost 65 stone between them. Thats LOADS. So it must work ay. I'm well up for giving it ago anyway.

What you need to know:

  • Current weight : 11st 13lbs (ssssssssssssh)
  • 10% Goal : 10st 10lbs
  • Total Amount I want to loose : 1 Stone 7lbs (I will be happy to loose a stone by the end of June, and then another 7lbs by end of july)
  • Personal Target : 10st 6lbs (Will be very happy with that)

On The 'Weigh' to Success.

First slimming world meeting last night. Met the consultant, Tessa, who seemed very nice and happy to help. Was a little shocked when she said she is going to give us a call on Wednesday to see how its going!!! No cheating this week then. She explained all about the diet, how it works, what you can eat (you can eat loads!) and how your syns work (loads of syns too) and it did seem little too good to be true! I'm sure it works, thousands of women wouldn't pay thier five quid a week meeting fee if it didn't. I even think my husband will be quite happy to go along with it as as I should be able to eat the kinds of things we like to as long as I plan my days well and don't get tempted by the school dinners at work. Slightly concerned about getting a decent pizza fix but will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Anyway, lets get down to the nitty gritty of this post. The weigh in details. Deep breath ... here we go :
  • Current weight : 11st 9.5lbs (Eeek! My highest recorded weight ever)
  • 10% Goal : 10st 7lbs (totally achieveable and actuallyquite a nice weight for me)
  • Personal Target : 10st 0lbs (I fully expect those last few lbs to be excruciatingly difficult but I will be absolutey happy with anything over my 10% weight loss)
  • Target Date : Monday 30th July (thats 13 weeks away and works out to around a 2lb weight loss each week between now and then to reach 10st)

So, there we are. That's my totally honest, achievable and set in stone (well, set in the web) weight loss plan. Should be an interesting journey.

The day has arrived

The diet has begun. So far today I have had a banana and some strawberries. Not bad at all I say lol.

However. The weekend was a different story.
  • Friday night I had half a pizza and a jacket spud, 8 Custard Creams
  • Saturday - Banana for breakfast. 2 ww cookies, a pear, cadburys snack bar, Chicken Royal and fries at Burger King and a home made sagg massala with boiled rice, nan bread, cadburys cho bar
  • Sunday - Banana, 4 custard creams, Bacon and egg sarnie, chicken burger with salad and mayo, cadburys snack bar

Drink wise was just squash. No alcohol.

So.. Looking at this. I eat way too much crap lol

Here's to a happy, thin, health us :)

Binge, Binge, Binge!

Well, it's Monday. After a weekend of pure gluttony (making the most of life pre-slimming world) the time has come to step on the scales. Oh ek! In a bid to absolve my sins before the mighty weigh in I hereby confess to the ultimate binge weekend, which included :
  • Pizza & Garlic Bread
  • Wine
  • Cadbury Shotz (Co-op out of Peanut M&Ms ... the swines)
  • Sourcream and Chive Pringles
  • Peanut butter sandwich on doorstop wedges of bread
  • Lager (1 pint)
  • Gin & Tonic (slimline tonic!)
  • Saag Aloo Balti with Garlic Fried rice and Naan
  • Wine (again)
  • Sausage sandwich (red and brown sauce)
  • Roast Lamb dinner ... with a few carrots and a LOT of mash
  • Wine (yes, more)
  • Chocolate chunk and hazelnut cookies (fairtrade ... delicious ... lots)

Ok, having written it down it seems I have a lot of making up to do. Currently working on a list of diet commandments (Thou shalt not automatically reply 'peanut m&ms' when husband asks if you want anything while he's out etc). Think Slimming World may have its work cut out.

On a positive note I am really looking forward to finding out how the diet works and getting started now. I'm ready! Let's do it!!!

Bad Girls, Gone Good

Yes. This is true. I went out to get some fruit for my lunch. Enjoyed it to. Wasn't even tempted with the chocolates that DID keep shouting out at me.

Myself and Gemma are very determind to lose weight and to prove this we are even going to post our weights on this very blog - for all to see. And will do so every week.
Our weights will be posted after our first weigh in on monday.

One Productive Friday Morning?

Well, I suppose it depends how you look at it but this morning Jayne and I have made some great plans for the future of our health, waistlines and general loveliness. We are going to have a go at Slimming World. In the time between breakfast and lunch we have found a local meeting, started to make some weight loss goals and decided to start a blog to monitor our progress and hopefully keep us on track.

Not bad for a couple of hours of MSN chatting eh?

Not sure our bosses would agree that it was a produtive use of work time though???

So, our first meeting will be on Monday at 7pm. To celebrate I had a banana, a low fat lemon mousse and a piece of orange sponge cake for lunch. Well, the diet doesn't start till after the weekend so I intend to make the most of it. Jayne, on the other hand has gone out to get herself some fruit for lunch. She's so good!
