Naughty night in

Last night I gave in to the naughty devil that does exsist inside me. Myself and Gemma had a girls night in at Hayley's. Lots of chatting and gossip went on I can tell ya. However. We did have pizza. I had 4 slices. 2 veg & 2 bbq chicken. I also had 2 vodka's and some Haribos. How very naughty hehe. But mmmmy god did i enjoy it :D

We had a friday "before pizza" weigh in. I was 10st 5 and 1/2lb. BRILLIANT. Just half a lb from my target. However I doubt the scales will be that kind on Monday after friday and the weekend.

I have also been picking a little today. Had a banana and cereal bar for breakfast, some crisps for lunch and a bite of Tony's Twirl. Not a great healthy diet going on there is it. I MUST try harder.

Girls Night In

I'm very much looking forward to this evening. Jayne and I are going round to our friend H's for a girls night in. I popped out at lunchtime for our supply of alcohol and we fully intend to eat junk food of some description. I am secretly hoping for pizza but we may just plump for a curry instead. We have vodka to drink ... I'm having mine with diet ginger ale and a wedge of lime (a Moscow Mule apparently) and Jayne has diet cherry coke for hers so it could be much, much worse! Jayne doesn't know it yet but the Haribo Starmix was also on special offer in Asda so I have a bag of that too. Oooops.

In preparation for a night of syn-ing I have been good today. Baked beans on wholemeal for breakfast. Fruit salad and a muller light for lunch. No snacks. I also plan to do a good half hour on the wii fit when I get home from work too ... partly because Jayne is threatening to put me on the scales before we go out. I may even hula as well. We also plan to walk the mile or so home.

Let the girlie gossiping commence ... just as soon as I get out of the hell hole also know as my office. (It's not been a good week!)

Loss ... or not?

Jayne knows me too well ... I did indeed try to get out of weighing in because it was a bank holiday LOL! In fact I am yet to go round to jump on the official scales but I was helping my mom and dad get ready for the boiler man. They needed to take out kitchen cupboards, take up carpet and generally make sure he can get at all the pipes. Then we went out for tea. YUM!

Even though I didn't manage to get round to Jayne's I did hop onto my mom's scales, which I think are very close to Jayne's and discovered that I might have had a little loss. 3/4 lb loss in fact which would take me to 11st 1 and 1/2 lbs. Personally, I'm not sure I deserve any loss at all so we might find on Jayne's scales I haven't lost anything. Although my (size 12) jeans have started to fall down which is marvellous but also very annoying . I am at that irritating in-between size stage. So I need to lose those lbs and inches quickly so that I can get some clothes that fit and don't make me look like I have a saggy ass.

This week's exercise is going to consist of more hula DVD, possibly aerobics on Wednesday evening and I am waiting for the delivery of my wii fit! I am very excited about that and have got over my initial guilt of ordering it when I blatantly have no money by justifying it as an early birthday present to myself :) My current mini goal by the way, is to be under 11st before my birthday which is on the 5th September. I can do that.

2 is all i need!!

Weigh in last night was ok I guess. I have lost 1/4of a lb which takes me to 10st 7lb.

Thats good considering my weekend and binge mid week. However before the weekend I was weighing less than that so it could have been much better.

I am now on a mission to loose my last 2lb. I also need to start doing my sit ups each evening again as my tummy is the part of me I am still unhappy with.

Weekend explained

As you know. I wasn't promising much after this weekend (madonna and a wedding) so here goes with what I ate.

Saturday. I had 2 slices of ww jam on toast. A banana and some pineapple for lunch. At 2:00 myself and Louise headed off to Cardiff. I had 2 jaffa cakes along the way and when we got there we decided to have a mcdonalds as it is quick/easy/and local to the millenuium stadium. I had a chicken and bacon deli and regular fries. I have just worked out my points.

Deli = 8 points
Fries = 5 points

I then had a curly wurly and 2 jaffa cakes for the journey home. I think that works out to about 25 points.

Sunday. I had a banana for breakfast. We then left for London and stopped for our picnic lunch on the way and I had 2 crusty baps with ham and salad and 1 mini scotch egg. The meal at the wedding was delish. I had melon to start (this was with a scoop of ice cream) Roast tatties, veg and chicken for main with a yummy chocolate pudding. It was all very tasty. Calories wise I hate to guess, but I would have been WAY over my point allowance.

So far today I have had a banana and some cake!!!

It is weighin day today and I have text Gem to make sure she is coming over :) Can't get out of it because it is bank holiday y'know :p

Bank Holiday Binge

Today is Bank Holiday Monday. For Britons everywhere it's an excuse to spend all of Sunday drinking because they don't have to get up for work the next day :) I am no exception. After dinner at Sis-In-Law's house (featuring the biggest slice of mom-in-law's home made apple pie I have ever seen, which must have been at least two of my five a day lol) I had my friend K round for gossip and wine ... and kettle chips ... and pistachio nuts.

It wasn't just Sunday though, it has been an altogether unhealthy weekend. Hubby is attempting to give up smoking and decided that if he is giving up one vice he should not torture himself with anything else remotely healthy. This weekend our kitchen has seen a LOT of wine and a LOT of junk food come and go!

That said, it was lots and lots of fun. I feel a little bit wobbly and spotty and unhealthy but all in all I had a good weekend. I must go and get some vitamins and fibre for breakfast now though before I shrivel into a lump of lard. Weetabix and fruit here I come!

Weekend Warning

I had been ok dieting this week untill last night when I got the munchies at 9:00. I'd had a busy evening and while relaxing and watching big briother i decided to have a banana and then started on some chocolate buttons and i'd already eaten beans on toast and a curly wurly.

I have been good today and I will make sure I stay within my points.

However...hear it comes...the weekend consists of going to Cardiff to see Madonna on Saturday (which means finding somewhere around there for our tea) and then on Sunday we are going to a wedding in London (which means I will be eating what ever they give me)

So as you can see, it is a very enjoyable weekend. I am feeling very excited about it. Just not promising any weight loss on Monday :D

Boing ... Boing ... BOING!

... boing!

Rebounding was loads of fun last night. It was hard work and it definitely did me some good. I think it mainly works the legs, hips and waist as my thighs feel a bit heavy and tired today. That's good if that is your problem area but I would have liked a bit more for the bingo wings and tummy! I think it's the sort of class that takes a little getting used to. I didn't really feel as though I had pushed myself enough to really feel the burn like I do with my regular aerobics class but that was mainly because I was scared of falling off the trampoline LOL! Anyone who knows me well will tell you that my spatial awareness is shockingly poor so I was concerned that I might boing myself onto the floor and break a leg or something similar. That said, after a couple more classes once I am used to the size of the bouncer and the type of exercises we're supposed to be doing I reckon I could really go for it for the full 45 minutes. Also I think we learnt two important lessons for next time.

  1. Don't eat soup a short while before you go to class. You will get stitch (as Jayne found out).
  2. Don't sit in front of the TV with a huge mug of tea before you go. You will really, reeeeally need a wee when you start jumping up and down (as I discovered).

I reckon rebounding will definitely be a class we'd have another go at as it was really fun. In fact we're getting quite adventurous with our exercise classes now. We have a two classes for £5 offer so we might try "Express Aerobics" or "Body Sculpt" with that. I think I have even convinced Jayne to have a go at Spinning one of the days :)

I'm still happy with the way my eating has been going this week. I haven't actually written anything down again *blush* but I know I haven't over indulged. I'm going to have a go at my hula DVD this evening too so I'm feeling generally positive all round.

Weigh In Non-Result

Weigh in last night. I honestly could not believe my eyes when I looked down at the scales. I lost 1 and 1/2 lbs this week. "Hurrah" I hear you say? Well, not exactly ... I put on 1 and 1/2 lbs last week so that makes me 11st 2 and 1/4 lbs again. It's almost a non-result. That's 7 weigh ins since I first hit that weight and I just can't seem to get under it.

Alas, I shan't be disheartened by those pesky stubborn scales that seem to refuse to change. I'm back in the habit with my food now ... weetabix for breakfast, fruit salad and yoghurt for lunch and a sensible dinner plus a decent amount of exercise. My hoop has also arrived (!) so I have no excuse for being a couch potato.

I'm pleased with my purchase. The hoop comes in six sections that click together so it can easily be dismantled for storage. The sections also mean it is adjustable so it can be a heavier 40 inch hoop for beginners like moi, or 36 inches for more advanced users who want a faster hula. I put the DVD on and it looks pretty interesting but I didn't follow it properly as I was just trying to get to grips with keeping the thing up! The new size and weight took a little getting used to but I picked it up and hula'd for almost two entire episodes of the Simpsons. I shall probably have a go at the exercise routine tomorrow. Also, unlike the ones at class this hoop is foam covered which means less bruises ... BONUS!

Stayed the same

Yesterdays weigh in wasn't as bad as expected. I have stayed the same. Phew. So I still weigh 10st 7 and 1/4lbs. Just 2 and 1/4lb away from my goal.

I need to get back in to the habit of writing everything down. I will make sure I start that today *gets out the journal from her handbag*

Looking forward to rebounding tonight. Shall blog how it goes.

Pick and Mix

This weekend has been somewhat of a mixed bag on the diet. I haven't been overly naughty exactly, but I haven't followed the rules 100% either. Breakfasts using HEb choices of weetabix or wholemeal toast continued, as did the fruit and yoghurt lunches. I did have teatime meals that were slightly off plan in the sense that I mixed proteins and carbohydrates in the same meal (homemade lasagne on Saturday and Moroccan chicken tagine with couscous on Sunday), but I don't feel they were too heavy on calories or saturated fats. However, I also made cookies, ate two of them and drank about six glasses of wine ... that's over the whole weekend, not in one sitting ;)

I have had far, far worse weekends ... but perhaps this one doesn't feel so bad because I neglected to write anything down? We shall see at weigh in tonight I guess. I have no idea what to expect but quite frankly I have bigger things to worry about and assuming I haven't gained I shall be happy.

On the exercise front this week Jayne and I are trying out a new class. Rebounding is aerobics on mini trampolines. Jayne found a video on you tube so we have some idea what we are letting ourselves in for ... it looks pretty fun to me, but also a teensy bit dangerous given my reputation for being ever so slightly clumsy. Jayne also needs to really strap in her bazoomas with a good bra for this one I think LOL.

Gem x

PS. Still no sign of my hula hoop. Damn you, Amazon where is it!?

PPS. Try cracking eggs between the top layer of your lasagne. This is apparently very authentic to parts of rural Italy (according to my sister-in-law's husband ... does that make him my brother in law?) and absolutely yummy. Plus it adds nothing to your syns on slimming world as eggs are free. Apparently there is a traditional white kind of lasagne which uses only eggs and and has no bolognaise layers. Something to do with rural Italians having a ready supply of eggs and but rarely much beef I believe. I'm going to look for a recipe as this would be perfect for the SW plan.

Ooooooh dear me

Well, this week has NOT gone to plan. I have scoffed waaaaay too much. Friday being the worst. I can't even write down things I have eaten as I have not written ANY of it down at all. I know i had spag bol on wednesday and a chinese WITH prawn crackers on Friday plus LOTS of biscuits and a feast icecream. Scoff scoff scoff.

I must say though. I have had a lovely 2 weeks off work. Loved spending all this extra time with Finley and on Thursday I braved it and got in my swimming costume to take fin swimming...Got to say, I didn't feel too embarrassed...so that’s a pretty good feeling really.

Hula was a hoot on Thursday. I am still crap, but as Gemma pointed out. We have only been twice. Thinking of doing rebounding on Tues as you burn 500 cals. Plus I should be able to get back in to my gym routine this week (if i can get the keys as it is closed due to being half term)

I am defo on for a gain on Monday. I weigh more this morning that I did last Monday evening so that’s a defo sign. Diet starts again Monday (back to work) and I am determined to get to my 10st 5lb goal pretty darn soon.

Mid Week Weigh In

Last night Jayne and I went to hulagise for the second time. It was still as much of a giggle as the first class, and I think my bruises are slightly smaller this time lol. Jayne did the honour of driving up to the gym so just before 8pm I tootled round the corner to her house to have a sneaky hop on the scales before we went out. Now, it was a little later than usual and I had eaten my tea just beforehand but it seems I have lost 1/2 lb since monday. That can't be bad can it?

Well, even though it is friday I don't really feel my usual urge to reach for a botte of wine. I don't really feel like drinking at all and Hubby and I are too skint for takeaways so all being well the loss can continue on until monday. But i'll tell you what, If those scales read 11st 2 and 1/4lbs next week I might just lose the plot!!!

Fruit salad and yoghurt again for lunch today. It seems that's my new lunch thing and I think I'll continue with it. I can't be doing with leaves and lettuce ... salad is just so dull. I actually hate eating salads with an absolute passion, they feel like such a chore. Not good for the eternal dieter in me. It tastes yummy, surprisingly fills me up and gives me a nice boost of vitamins to get me through the afternoon. It's the future lol.

PS. My hoop has finally been dispatched from Amazon. I can't wait to get hula-ing at home :)

No Hidden Nasties?!

After yesterday's well planned day of eating I expected to eat almost no syns at all ... just a couple for gravy on my cottage pie really. So when I stopped for petrol I thought it would be safe to eat a cereal bar. I picked up an Eat Natural Cranberry and Macadamia Cereal Bar and I tell you what, it was really really delicious. I was pretty sure cereal, puffed rice, nuts and dried fruit couldn't be too high in syns, despite not having any nutritional information on the packet. The most information I could glean from it was that it was all natural ingredients with "no hidden nasties". Smashing.

However, on checking the food directory I was a bit horrified to discover it was 11.5 syns! Now, as I had eaten no other syns all day (apart from a bit of bisto) I think I have narrowly avoided disaster with 13.5 syns in total for the day. Bit of a shock though ... so much for no hidden nasties.

I have been pretty good today anyway and to make up for it I don't plan to eat more than 7 syns today ... most of which have come from a bag of quavers (4.5 syns) which I just couldn't resist. The rest will be from cornflour to make a sauce for a cauliflower cheese using a HE of cheese and a HE of skimmed milk. It's a green day so I shall be having that on a big jacket potato with a green salad and tomatoes. I had fruit and yoghurt for lunch and baked beans on wholemeal with a poached egg for brekkie. Oh, and I'm just eating a pineapple boiled sweet so I shall add a syn for that too.

They Moved!

Finally, we have some movement on the scales ... unfortunately they went up lol. Over the course of my holiday I have put on 1 and 1/2 lbs which takes me back up to 11st 3 and 3/4. It's quite rubbish really considering we have been dieting since April and I have so far managed to lose only half a stone. I feel better for even that little amount if I'm honest but it can be a bit disheartening. That aside I was actually pleased to see the scales move, albeit in the wrong direction, because at least it proves that my actions DO have an impact on my weight loss or lack of it. Therefore, if I apply myself to following the slimming world rules and weigh and count syns and do it properly then eventually I WILL lose something.

Todays menu is :

  • Breakfast : Two Weetabix (HEb), semi-skimmed milk (HEa) and a banana.
  • Lunch: Roast chicken salad with feta cheese (42g HEa), olives (1syn) and an apple.
  • Dinner: Cottage pie made with lean mince and mashed potato (HEb) served with gravy (1 syn) and green beans.

I haven't decided on any snacks yet, but I may have a muller light. That does leave me with almost all of my syns in tact too. I'm trying hard to keep them to a minimum knowing how I like a glass of wine at the weekend.

PS Aerobics last night was great and I think getting a bit active has really sorted my neck out! Looking forward to hulagise on Thursday too :)

Quite pleased

Was the dreaded weigh in last night and i wasn't looking forward to it after having a week off work and not writing down points. However I lost 3/4 of a lb. That means I know weigh 10st 7 1/4lb.

Went to aerobics last night as I had not really done any exercise since last Monday (apart from walking the dog and running around after Finley) I was feeling very slugish before hand, but I soon got in to it and felt better for doing it.

I am going to do a lot of tidying and sorting today so that should burn a few calories eh. Looking forward to hula-gise on Thursday too.

This week I will start writing down my points again. Need to get back in to the habit.

My target weight is 10 st 5lb by 18th Aug. I doubt I will hit that as that is next week lol, but I won't be too far off so I won't be upset about that at all. I should be able to get there by the end of August :)

Jolly Holiday

Well, I have just enjoyed ten days holiday from work, during which time I didn't count a single syn or point. The scales have GOT to move this week and I'm pretty sure it won't be in the right direction, but that's OK as it's the price I will pay for a few carefree days.

You name any diet no-no and I'm pretty sure I will have gone there this last week. Every take away you can imaging, ice cream by the seaside, sweeties, booze, cinema visits, full sugar fizzy drinks blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, today that is going to change. I have decided I'm going back on to the slimming world diet. I need the healthy eating that the diet promotes and I need to get off the low-fat, low-calorie, no-nutrient snacks that I have been chomping away at for the last few weeks on weight watchers. I've started off the day with my old faithful weetabix and banana although the diet will officially start tomorrow.

Also, the keep fit regime is back on ... I have the most horrible neck ache at the moment so hopefully getting a bit mobile will sort that out. Jayne and I are at aerobics again tonight, I shall also try to go again on Wednesday and we have hula booked for Thursday evening. I'm really looking forward to September when my Yoga class starts again too.

Anyway, that's all from me. Weigh in later. It's not going to be pretty.

LAST mondays weigh in

Heeeeeey *doing voice and thumb gestures of Fonz*

I'm back online yaaaay. Last Mondays weighin went ok. I lost 1 & 1/2lb which takes me to 10st 8lb.

However last week and this week I am on holiday so I am unsure of the damage. I have been pretty good I think, but I haven't been writing down my points. I went for a pub lunch last Wednesday and i did choose a grilled chicken salad, but it did come with croutons and a bit of pasta with a french dressing. I have again eaten too many biscuits and last night I had a nice chuck of cheesecake. Had forgotten how good that tasted. However because of this I did have a ham salad for my tea. So I have been bad and good this week. Shall see the outcome later on.

Weigh in tonight and then I am going to aerobics with Gem. We will hopefully be going to hula or rebounding on Thursday.

I have this week off work so again...will try to be as good as possible. Not sure I will reach my goal quite on time but i am pretty close eh...Just hope there is not too much of a gain tonight to take me further away.

100th Blog Post

We have reached a milestone in our slimming adventure ... this is our 100th blog post. It isn't really that significant but I felt it deserved a mention, mainly due to our level of commitment (which is more to the blog than to our diets as recent weigh ins might suggest!)

Anyway, I am quite conscious of not having blogged for a few days as on Wednesday afternoon i broke up from work for just over a weeks annual leave. Holiday is never a good time for any dieter, however my recent weigh in disappointments haven't exactly helped matters. I thought a quick overview of my last few days eating were in order before tomorrows weigh in.

On Friday Hubby and I were invited out for curry. I did my best to limit the damage by choosing delicious veggie things to eat and also by driving to limit my alcohol intake. The curry house we went to do what is in my opinion an excellent idea. Combination dishes. Choose two curries and get two half portions in a little bowl with a partition in the middle. This might not be that unusual, but I have never seen it before. I had mushroom saag (spinach) balti and aloo (potato) gobi (cauliflower) massala. It was ruddy lovely I tell you. I was quite surprised ... i never thought cauliflower and curry would be a good combination but they are. I washed them down with a small glass of lager, half a coriander naan and one forkful of Hubby's garlic rice. I couldn't even begin to guess the syns/points in any of what I ate so have decided not to bother.

On Saturday we were guests at not one, but two BBQ parties. Food and alcohol damage not too bad I don't think as I drove again, and ate some lovely salads (and a bit of quiche, and one burger, and a tiny slice of Victoria Sponge ... mother-in-law made it so I couldn't NOT have any!). Today we have been invited out for lunch and Chinese buffet was mentioned so I can pretty much guarantee a gain on Monday. I am a little past caring at the moment and think I should be able to get back on track when I am back at work on the 11th August, however for the next week or so I am just going to enjoy myself, make good choices where possible and write it off as experience. I'M ON HOLIDAY! At least if i have a gain i might also be able to experience having a loss again ... after a hundred years at 11st 2 and 1/4 lbs any change would at least convince me that the scales can not hear me coming. Either that or Jayne is fixing them before I arrive LOL!
